Common Uses for a Golf Cart

While a golf cart is not something that many of us need as often as we do a car, they can be an extremely convenient mode of transportation. Golf carts were originally created to service golf players and golf players only. According to the National Golf Foundation, before 2021 about 70% of all rounds of golf were played with golf carts in tow. However, they have also become more common for recreational purposes and can prove to be a worthwhile investment for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Why are people reliant on golf carts and when are they using them? Let's find out below.

Why Do People Use Golf Carts?

In theory, golf does not look like an overly physical sport, at least not in comparison to football or basketball, for example. However, golf is actually quite physically taxing, as any sport would be. Furthermore, golf is often played under the hot sun and involves walking across the course for what could ultimately end up being miles. Additionally, the players must carry around their heavy clubs -- that is unless they have a caddy, which many players don't in this day and age!

Therefore, it makes sense that people began using golf carts. A golf cart is a great way of getting around the course at low speeds, and it's less cumbersome and destructive to the putting green than a car would be. With that in mind, it's no wonder that golf carts became a necessary part of the golf experience. It doesn't matter how tired you get, you can ensure that you're still able to finish the game when you use a golf cart.

How Often Are Golf Carts Used Outside of Golf?

Golf carts aren't just used strictly on the golf course anymore. It's now become much more common for golf carts to be used in lieu of cars when a larger, higher-speed vehicle is not necessary. Often, golf carts are used for parking lot patrols, as well as the transportation of employees in country clubs or campgrounds. A golf cart may also be used as a quick ADA transportation method in a pinch.

If you're an avid golfer or need a backup method of transportation, look into buying a golf cart. It could be more useful than you previously thought!
